Abusive ODSP Office has to Back Down

Recently OCAP was approached by a family that was being denied income by a Peel Region ODSP office. A disabled older father had been denied all income for months. He was being hit with an overpayment that no one in the family understood. All attempts to get them to explain why the money was being deducted were ignored week after week. They were also taking off an amount due to the claim that he was receiving income from a boarder who (as they had been repeatedly informed) had moved out months ago. EI income was also being deducted despite the fact that these benefits had run out. The office simply continued to deny income and would not respond to letters or phone calls.
