Documentation and ID

Documents – Your worker may demand that you provide documentation about your finances and/or personal life. You have to provide documents that cost money to get, tell them you cannot afford it and ask them to pay for it. If they refuse to pay for a document, you don’t have to provide it.

Third Party Documents – Sometimes social services requires that you provide documents that are signed by or provided by a third party like an ex-partner or former boss. You are required to make an effort to get these documents but it is unreasonable to demand you provide a document that you do not have control over.

I.D. – ODSP does not pay for any identification. In Toronto, you can go to an I.D. clinic to get help getting I.D. Call 211 for information.
