Who Is A Spouse?

A spouse is defined by someone who:
You have lived with the person for at least 3 months and

• you are a couple (a sexual relationship is not necessary for this to be the case)
• you are financially interdependent and/or one of you supports the other person
• people in your life (family, friends, doctors, etc)regard you as a couple

Or

• You say your are spouses
• You are legally married
• You or the other person has a legal obligation to support your or your kids
